DUT Online Application 2025/2026 Opening Date

Ready to start your studies at DUT? Applications are now open for the 2025/2026 academic year, open to both South African and international students for undergraduate and postgraduate programs. Apply between April 1, 2024, and November 30, 2024, to secure your spot. Submit your application online at https://www.dut.ac.za/apply/. Late applications are only considered if space permits.

Applicants are also encouraged to read the admission requirements to ensure they are eligible for the courses they wish to pursue. To be admitted to Durban University of Technology for the 2025/2026 academic year, applicants must meet both general and specific faculty requirements.

Dates for Opening and Closing Dut Online Applications

How to Apply Online Application Form for Durban University of Technology (DUT) 2025/2026

To apply online at DUT for 2025/2026, prospective applicants must follow the steps below to have a smooth application process :

  • Visit the Central Applications Office (CAO) website: www.cao.ac.za
  • Complete the CAO application form Electronically
  • Upload certified copies of your identity  document and Final Grade 11 & Grade 12 certificate ( June/ Trial report if you have not written your final examination)
  • The application form must reach the CAO office before the closing date of 30 November 2024. Because some programs end earlier than November 30, 2024, please refer to specific programs for applicable ending dates.
  • Pay the application fee of R250 (SA citizens) and R300 (International applicants) before submitting your application.

DUT Application Required Documents for 2025 Application

To apply to DUT you need to submit the following documents. Failure to upload these documents, your application will not be considered.

  • Original Senior Certificate or Statement of Results
  • Original I.D. document
  • If you are transferring from another university, you must have an authentic academic record, diploma, or degree, as well as a behavior certificate. You must receive an Application for Exemption form from the relevant Faculty Office if you require credit exemption.
  • Indemnity form
  • Biographical Information Sheet
  • Confirmation of Acceptance form
  • Surety Form
  • Residence form (if applicable)
  • Study Permit (international students)
  • Proof of Medical Cover (international students)
  • Passport (international  students)
  • Clearance Letter  from  the International Office  (international   students)

Requirements for entry in 2025/2026 Admissions

The minimum entrance requirements for admission to the DUT for a South African applicant are as below:

For Higher Certificate programmes:

  • A National Senior Certificate (NSC) as certified by the Council for General and Further Education and Training (Umalusi), with a minimum achievement rating of 3 for English.

For Diploma programmes:

  • A National Senior Certificate (NSC) as certified by the Council for General and Further Education and Training (Umalusi), with a minimum achievement rating of 3 for English and a minimum achievement rating of 3 in four recognized NSC 20-credit subjects.

For Bachelor’s Degree programmes:

  • A National Senior Certificate (NSC) as certified by the Council for General and Further Education and Training (Umalusi), with a minimum achievement rating of 3 for English and a minimum achievement rating of 4 in four NSC 20-credit subjects chosen from the NSC designated subject list.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR ADMISSION FOR NCV LEVEL 4 APPLICANTS

For Diploma:

A National Certificate (Vocational) Level 4 with the following minimum requirements:

  1. At least 50% in three fundamental subjects including, English; and at least 60% in three compulsory vocational

For Higher Certificate:

  • A National Certificate (Vocational) Level 4 with at least 50% in English.

For Bachelor’s Degree:

A National Certificate (Vocational) Level 4 with the following minimum requirements:

  • At least 60% in three fundamental subjects, including English; and at least 70% in four compulsory vocational subjects, chosen from the National Certificate (Vocational) Level 4

PLEASE NOTE: Over and above the minimum entrance requirements, each department also sets specific entrance requirements with which applicants need to comply.
