Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT) is a dynamic institution known for its commitment to providing quality education and supporting the diverse needs of its students. If you’re considering applying to CPUT for a second time, perhaps with a change in course or program, you’re in the right place. In this article, we’ll guide you through the process of applying twice at CPUT for the 2024 academic year.

Applicants must submit a new application for the 2024-2025 academic year in which they wish to study. If you applied for the 2023 application intake but were not accepted, you must apply again for the 2024 application intake. This holds true for both new and returning applicants. However, you can only submit one application form for the 2024 intake.

Is it possible to apply TWICE to CPUT for the 2024 intake?

Only one online application is required. You are not permitted to apply more than once. This means that you can only submit one application form to CPUT. However, you must complete the courses section of the forms with your top three course choices. You can apply for three courses at the same time using the same application form.

Apply for multiple qualifications.

In the academic year 2024-2025, students can apply online for no more than three qualifications. The first three options received will be considered. Visit the CPUT website to learn more about the application process: https://www.cput.ac.za/study/apply

International Applications

International applications must be submitted online at all times. Unfortunately, no manual applications are being processed. Before the deadline of October 31, 2023, the applicant must send an email to the relevant ARC International staff member with their name, surname, passport number, and qualifications sought.

CPUT Online Application Requirements For 2024-2025

South African citizens:

  • Copy of the proof of payment of your application fee (online application submission is free of charge).
  • A certified copy of the first page of your Identity Document.
  • A certified copy of your Senior Certificate or equivalent qualification. If you are currently in Grade 12, please submit your marks obtained in Grade 11.
  • An original Academic Record and a Certificate of Conduct, or certified copies of other certificates/ diplomas/ degrees you obtained previously from any other higher education institution.
  • Any other documents specifically required for the programme to which you are applying, as explained in the application form and admission requirements.

International Applicants:

  • Certified copies of the following applicable documents (must be less than three (3) months old)
    1. Permanent Residency applicants: Passport and Proof of Permanent Residency/SA ID Document/Card
    2. Refugee/Asylum seeker temporary permit/formal recognition of refugee status in the RSA
    3. Passport: Country of origin’s passport

Other Required Documents for International Applicants

  • A certified copy of your school-leaving certificate, together with an English translation.
  • A scratch card (for students from the West African Examination Council (WAEC) and National Examinations Council (NECO).
  • Congo-Brazzaville applicants must submit the Liste des Admis au Bac
  • Sixth-year Bulletin: Diplom D’Etat and Journal and transcripts of results or Journal or Confirmation of Results from the Embassy (students from Angola, the Democratic Republic of Congo or Cameroon).

CPUT Admission Requirements 2024/2025

The Grade 12 students’ entrance requirements for 2024 will simply be based on their final Grade 11 grades, together with any additional program-specific requirements (where applicable). The final Grade 12 results will still be used to determine a participant’s admittance into the program.

  • Specific minimum requirements for a course (subjects required/recommended, achievement rating, portfolio to be submitted, interview in Cape Town, evaluation tests, or experience required) may apply to each course.
  • Applicants may be required to write additional proficiency tests as part of the admission requirements for the certificate, diploma, and degree programs.
  • Minimum admission requirements may be adjusted at the discretion of the Dean, subject to the approval of the Faculty Board and the Senate of the University.
