The University of Pretoria (UP) is now accepting applications for the 2026 academic year, beginning with the first semester in 2026. Applications opened on April 1, 2025, and are encouraged for students who have recently completed their Grade 12, WASSCE, or matric exams. The application portal will close on June 30, 2025, although this deadline may be extended to accommodate late applicants for available courses.

Limited Late Applications Accepted at UP

The University of Pretoria (UP) will consider late applications for the 2026 academic year only if space remains in the program. It is strongly recommended to apply before the initial deadline of June 30, 2025.

- General Deadline: June 30, 2025 (for all faculties except Veterinary Science).

To apply to the University of Pretoria for the 2026 academic year, complete the online application form at www.up.ac.za and submit it along with all required supporting documents. Note that applications submitted in person will not be accepted—everything must be done through the online portal.

Start applying by following the steps below:

Go to www.upnet.up.ac.za/psc/upapply.
Choose “Start New Application” from the drop-down menu.
On the privacy notice pop-up, click OK.
Fill in the blanks with your information (Personal information)
Check that the characters in the security code field are entered correctly.
Go to the Go tab.
A disclaimer appears; carefully read it before proceeding (Do not discard this page)
Fill in your information in the provided dropbox.
Select the OK button.
On the next page, confirm your application and click continue to proceed.
An ID and a temporary Password will be emailed to you. During the application process, a working email address is required.
Start your application with this ID number and password by clicking on the link in your email.
If you want, you can create your password.
To proceed, click the “save and next” button.
The application summary page is now editable. This is the application’s starting point.
Start and edit your online application
Upload the necessary documents in the proper format.
Pay your non-refundable application fee into the university’s official account.
If you believe you are finished, click the submit button.
