NMU Prospectus 2028 PDF

Thinking about studying at Nelson Mandela University (NMU) in 2028? The prospectus is the best place to start. It brings together the qualifications on offer, admission requirements, faculty information, and the details you need to plan your application with confidence.

This guide explains what the NMU prospectus is, where to download it, and how to use it.

What Is the NMU Prospectus?

The Nelson Mandela University prospectus is the university’s official guide for prospective students. It explains:

  • The undergraduate and postgraduate programmes on offer
  • Minimum admission requirements and subject requirements
  • Faculty and department information
  • Application procedures and key dates
  • Fees, funding and student support information
  • Campus and residence details

You can use it to compare programmes, check whether your matric results qualify you, and narrow down your first and second choices before you apply.

Which NMU Prospectuses Are Available?

NMU typically publishes several guides, so make sure you download the one that fits your situation:

  • Undergraduate prospectus: for school leavers and anyone starting a first degree, diploma or higher certificate
  • Postgraduate prospectus: for honours, master’s, doctoral and postgraduate diploma applicants
  • Faculty prospectuses or brochures: detailed information on programmes within a specific faculty

How to Download the NMU 2028 Prospectus (PDF)

  1. Go to the official Nelson Mandela University website: mandela.ac.za
  2. Open the Study at Mandela section.
  3. Select Prospectus 2028
  4. Choose the undergraduate, postgraduate, or faculty edition for 2028.
  5. Download the PDF, or open it in your browser or on your phone.

The PDF is free, so you don’t need to travel to campus or pay for a printed copy. Always download from the official university website so you get the correct, up-to-date version.

Note: Universities usually publish each year’s prospectus in the year before the intake. If the 2028 edition isn’t online yet, check the official NMU website regularly or use the most recent edition in the meantime. Admission requirements can change, so always confirm them against the latest version.

Do You Need the Prospectus to Apply?

No. The prospectus is a guide, not an application requirement. But you should read it before you apply, because it helps you:

  • Choose a programme that matches your interests and career goals
  • Check that your subjects and marks meet the minimum requirements
  • Avoid applying for programmes you don’t qualify for
  • Understand deadlines and what documents you’ll need

What to Look for Inside the Prospectus

  1. Programme and course information. Browse qualifications across NMU’s faculties and see what each programme covers and where it can lead.
  2. Admission requirements. Check the minimum NSC (matric) requirements, subject requirements and any Admission Point Score (APS) needed for your chosen programme.
  3. Selection criteria. Some programmes, especially in health sciences, require additional assessments or have limited places.
  4. Application dates. Note the opening and closing dates. Competitive programmes can fill early, so apply well before the deadline.
  5. Fees and funding. Look for guidance on tuition, accommodation, bursaries and NSFAS.
  6. Student life and support. Read about residences, libraries, academic support and campus facilities.
