In South Africa, universities and colleges open their admission portal between April and August to accept new applicants and students. This date is usually announced on their prospective websites for applicants to be aware of. Today our article is geared toward the opening date and application process of one of the colleges in South Africa, Orbit Tvet College

Orbit Tvet College is focused explicitly on addressing SA’s skills shortages by providing relevant and responsive vocational and occupational programs. Umalusi ensures the quality of vocational programs, whereas the QCTO ensures the quality of occupational programs (Quality Council for Trades and Occupations).

Orbit College Application dates for 2024 admissions: The official opening date for all manner of applications at Orbit College is 01 March 2023. The application window runs until 12 November 2023 for the second semester. Late applications will not be considered.

How to apply

Applicants should first visit the school’s website at “https://www.orbitcollege.co.za/“
On the school’s webpage click on “enrolment”
A page will open and applicants should first complete the process under the “Free Career Guidance”
The next step is to complete the process under the “Online placement assessment”
After applicants should complete the process under the “Student I-Enabler Application”
NSFAS Application is the next stage of the application process
Applicants are then required to complete the final process under the “Student I-Enabler Registration“

Supporting Documents

South Africa Applicants must upload these documents or consider the application rejected

Identity documents or passports for foreign students
Academic records
Grade 9, 10, 11, or 12 certificate/NC(V) level 4 (whichever is applicable to the programme to which the student wants to enroll); or Adult Education and Training (AET) LEVEL 4 which is equivalent to the National Qualification Framework (NQF) level 1 certificate or Certificate

Foreign students :

South African Qualification Authority (SAQA) approved foreign qualifications
Placement test qualified
Academic records
Meeting the requirement of Point system criteria for specific programme
Proof of provisional funding status from NSFAS (Students should note that the NSFAS application process opens from August of each year proceeding the study year)
Signed proof of registration Proof of address, and contact details of next of kin or responsible persons.
Certified copies of passport
Proof of medical insurance or cover
Valid study permit

When to get feedback on your application at Orbit College: Once your application has been finally approved you will receive an SMS alternatively check your status on the i-enabler system under “REVIEW APPLICATION STATUS” indicating that your application has been successful

Admission Requirements For NC(V) Students

The students are permitted to study for a maximum of four years for NC (V) Level 2, 3 and 4, considering possible subject failures.
Minimum entrance requirements are NQF1 i.e. Grade 9 and AET Level 4
Entry requirements have been guided and aligned to the NC (V) policy. A point system for entry into qualifications will be utilized.

Admission Requirements For Reporting 191 Students

Students who have passed Grade 12/NC (V) Level 4 will be admitted to N4.
Students who have passed grades 9, 10, 11, or 12 who want to pursue an artisan career will be admitted to N1 based on a point system.

Admission Requirements For Occupational Programmes

Minimum entrance requirements as per registered Skills Programme/Learnership approved by QCTO/SETA
The student who previously enrolled for NC(V) or Reports 191 programmes will only be considered if such a student has fully completed the NC(V) or Report 191
programme (passed all subjects).
