UKZN 2026 Online Application Open!

The University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) will begin accepting applications for the 2026 academic year on April 1, 2025. During this cycle, all domestic, international, returning, and transfer students who wish to enroll at the institution for the 2026 intake may apply. Make sure to complete your application before the deadlines because late applications will incur additional fees.

When to Apply For 2026 at UKZN

Your application and all accompanying materials must reach UKZN by the following dates:

Medicine: June 30, 2025 (No late applications accepted)
Other Programs: September 30, 2025

Who Can Apply to UKZN in 2026?

UKZN welcomes applications from:

First-time applicants: You are considered a first-time applicant if you have never had a UKZN student number.
Transfer applicants: Students currently registered at another institution who wish to transfer to UKZN.
The university also accepts applications from the international community

How to Apply

Aside from domestic first-time students, who must apply indirectly to the university through the Central Application Office, all other applicants must apply directly to the university through www.ukzn.ac.za

Go to www.ukzn.ac.za to start your application.
Fully follow the on-screen instructions to complete the form.
Make sure to submit certified copies of your ID/passport, academic qualifications, proof of payment and any documents requested by the system.
Submit a filled application form.

Hard Copy Application

If you prefer to apply using a hard copy, you can:

Download the form from the CAO website at www.cao.ac.za.
Contact the CAO office by phone at 031 268 4444 to request a hard copy.
Visit the CAO office in person to collect a pre-printed form.

UKZN Application Fees for 2026

Early application: R210
Late application: R420

Exemption: Current UKZN students do not need to pay the application fee.
