UKZN Undergraduate Application Dates For 2026, WHEN TO APPLY FOR ADMISSION 2026

The University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) is accepting applications for the 2026 academic year starting on April 1, 2025. Undergraduate and graduate applications are now being accepted, and both new and returning students are encouraged to complete the application process on the official website.

Because there are only a few spots available, candidates are encouraged to apply as soon as possible to guarantee they get a spot.

Important Application Deadlines For UKZN 2026

You can begin your UKZN university applications from April 1 and ensure the university receives them by the following dates:

  • Medicine: June 30, 2025 (no late applications accepted)
  • All other courses: September 30, 2025
  • Semester 2 (August 2025): April 30, 2025 (limited new applications, specific programs only)
  • Returning Students: May apply by April 30, 2025, for Semester 2.

Mode of Applications For 2026

South African first-time undergraduate applicants apply via the CAO, while international, postgraduate, and returning domestic students must apply directly to UKZN, paying a non-refundable fee and submitting all required documents, including proof of payment, by the deadline

Application Fees Required During the UKZN University 2026 Application

Any applicant applying to the university must know that there is an application fee requirements. Nonetheless, depending on when or how you apply, you can pay more or less. Check below:

Direct Applications

  • Early Application (via CAO): R210
  • Late Application: R420

Indirect Applications (Via CAO)

  • CAO Application Fee (before/on October 31, 2025): R250
  • CAO Late Fee (from November 1, 2025): R470

Supporting Documents for Application

Applicants must submit the following supporting documents when applying for undergraduate programs at UKZN:

  •  Identification: Certified copy of your ID or Passport
  •  Academic Records: Certified copy of your National Senior Certificate (NSC), Matric Certificate, or equivalent qualification
  • International Students: Proof of English proficiency and a valid study visa for South Africa
  • Other Documents: Depending on the program, additional documents like portfolios, reference letters, or degree certificates may be required

How to Apply to UKZN via the CAO

Apply to the university via the CAO website if you are a South African first-time applicant

  • Visit the CAO website: http://www.cao.ac.za/
  • Click on the “Apply” tab.
  • Read the application instructions carefully.
  • Click on “Continue with Application”.
  • Enter your ID number or passport number and click “Submit”.
  • Scroll down and click “Continue with Application” again.
  • Enter the required details and click “Next”.
  • Click on “Continue with Online Application”.
  • Follow the instructions and complete the online application form.
  • Submit your application for evaluation.

Direct Applications to UKZN

Apart from domestic first-time students, all applications must be submitted directly to the admission office of UKZN:

  • Download the Application Form: Visit www.ukzn.ac.za to download the application form.
  • Complete the Application: Fill out all required fields, and indicate your program choices.
  • Submit the Form: Submit all application documents including proof of payment to the postal address.
