Universities Opening 2025 Applications in April

Most universities in South Africa have opened their respective application portals for the academic year 2025! While most universities have already started accepting applications, a few will open their application portals on June 1, 2024. If you are yet to apply for your preferred university, then you are encouraged to do so now as you have until 31 October 2024.

South African University 2025 Application Dates

While April is a common opening month for most South African Universities, deadlines can vary. Application to study in South Africa will generally close on November 30, 2024, for most undergraduate courses whereas postgraduate courses may close as late as March 2025. Prospective students are to ensure that all application documents are received by the university before the closing date. Pay close attention to application instructions and deadlines.

Prepare well and Meet the 2025 Application Deadlines

Obtain all appropriate documentation before April 1, 2024, including transcripts, certificates, identification documents, and any additional documentation that may be needed. Apply as soon as possible to enhance your chances of being selected, so don’t wait. Make sure you scan all of your application materials into soft copies and have them certified.

South African Universities 2025 Application Requirements

Each university has its own admissions criteria. Generally, you’ll need a National Senior Certificate (NSC) with good grades in relevant subjects. Some programs, particularly in health sciences, might require the National Benchmark Tests (NBTs). Familiarize yourself with the admission requirements for your chosen program and ensure you meet them before you apply for the course.

South African Universities 2025 Application Fees

From April 1, 2024, most South African universities may start accepting applications and charge an application fee for the academic year 2025. Do not forget to factor these expenses into your budget. Depending on your nation, the degree you choose to pursue, and the submission deadline, the application cost could be anywhere from R100 to R575.
