University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) Online Application 2024/2025

The University of KwaZulu-Natal is already taking applications for the academic year 2024/2025. (UKZN). Apply today to turn your dreams into a reality. Since the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) has opened the admissions webpage for the 2024/2025 academic year, submit your application as soon as you can. Because of this, anyone—regardless of race, nationality, or language—can submit an online application.

Application Fee for 2024/2025 Admissions

The application fee is payable to CAO R250 on time and R470 for late applications. This fee is non-refundable. Applicants should consider it as a sunk cost.

How to apply online for 2024/2025

These steps were simplified by the richadmissions.com portal for applicants to have smooth registration, especially the first-time applicants

  • Visit our website at cao.ac.za and select “Apply.”
  • After reading the details, press “Continue with Application.”
  • After entering your ID number, click “Submit.“
  • Click ‘Continue with Application‘ at the bottom of the page after you have scrolled there.
  • Start by entering ALL of the required information. After you have completed all the required fields, click “Next.”
  •  Click on ‘Continue with Online Application
  •  A pop-up window will appear with your CAO number, password, and EasyPay number. Read the instructions
  • Click on ‘Continue with Online Application’.
  • Follow the instructions and complete ALL the information requested, then click ‘Next’.
  • Complete the ‘Next of Kin’ details and click ‘Next’.
  • Insert the school name and click on ‘Search’. The school name will appear in a box and you must enter the year you attended that school and the year you finished attending that school.
  • Click ‘Next’.
  • Click the button when you see “Process My Application.” NOW THAT YOUR APPLICATION HAS BEEN SENT
  • Your screen will show a notification indicating that your submission was successful.
  • You can now upload your supporting documents and pay online.
  • pay your application through the EasyPay system.

Supporting Documents for 2024/2025

Please remember to upload the following documents (where applicable) during the online application or submit them together with the fully completed application form (Hard Copy).

  • Certified copy of your ID/passport.
  • Certified copy of your National Senior/Matric Certificate or O/A Levels or relevant school leaving qualification/certificate.
  • Proof from Universities South Africa (previously known as HESA), that you qualify for admission to degree studies at South African universities if you are an international applicant. For more information, refer to the undergraduate prospectus
  • Certified copies of your degree certificate(s), academic record, and certificate of conduct, if you attended other universities.
  • Proof of English proficiency for international applicants from non-English speaking countries.
  • South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) evaluations if the previous qualification(s) was/were obtained at foreign universities (outside South Africa).
  • A research proposal/proposed title of the dissertation/thesis if you are applying for a Masters Degree or PhD.
  • A valid study visa to study in SA if you are an international applicant.
  • Before applying online please make sure that you have read the guidelines above.
  • Please ensure that you have the USAf/SAQA documents to be uploaded in order to complete your application.
  • Please ensure to use reference APPN (followed by your student number) when making application fee payments.
  • Please allow the system 24 hrs to 48 hrs to clear your payment.
  • South African First-time Undergraduate applicants must apply via CAO at: www.cao.ac.za

International Applicants

  • On the UKZN Application for Admission to Undergraduate Study (International) form, applicants must apply directly to UKZN for full-time undergraduate studies.
  • UKZN charges a non-refundable application fee. On submission of their application, applicants must include proof of payment as well as all documentation asked.
  • Applicants must make every effort to guarantee that their application and payment arrive before the deadline.

Admission Requirements 2024/2025

National Senior Certificate or Senior Certificate

  1. Applicants to undergraduate degree programmes must be in possession of a National Senior Certificate for Degree Studies (NSC-Deg) or a Senior Certificate with endorsement.
  2. Applicants to undergraduate diploma programmes must be in possession of a National Senior Certificate for Diploma studies (NSC-Dip) or Senior Certificate.
