Applications for Admissions to WSU undergraduate and postgraduate programmes are basically online. Please follow the steps below:
- Visit the website: www.wsu.ac.za (Tablet, laptop, and any other smart device can perform this duty. Do not Use mobile phone)
- Click on the study with us tab on the menu bar of the main page of wsu
- Select the application package and begin your application
- Complete the application by following the instructions
- Confirmation of receipt of the application is issued automatically once the process is completed and submitted.
- Then, Upload all relevant supporting documents in their right format
Required Supporting Documents for WSU Online Application 2024/2025
The Supporting documents must be uploaded at the time of the application either electronically or manually. Failure to upload or submit the required documents, your application will be rejected for admission in 2024. check the list below and gather them before commencing with your applications. They must reach the university by the end of the application closing dates.
- The “Old Senior” certificate
- The National Senior Certificate “NSC”
- National Certificate Vocational “NCV”
- N6 certificate
- Current grade 12 learners must upload Grade 11 final results and first quarter or mid-year results if available.
- Post-matric candidates must upload a matric or equivalent certificate, academic record, copy of ID, or passport.
Please Note: Some departments may consider a mature age exemption for admission for some programmes.

WSU Admission Requirements 2024/2025
Undergraduate
The general requirement for admission to study for a degree qualification is a matriculation exemption certificate, or a National Senior Certificate endorsed for degree admission.
The standard requirement for admission to study a diploma or certificate qualification is a school leaving certificate with a minimum aggregate symbol E-S, or National Senior Certificate endorsed for diploma/certificate admission.
Please note: All students will be required to satisfy any additional criteria prescribed by Senate and/or the Faculties concerned.
Postgraduate
To study for a postgraduate degree qualification, the general requirement for admission is possession of a preceding degree, (e.g. first degree for Honours studies, Honours degree or equivalent for Master’s studies, and Master’s degree for doctoral studies). The preceding degree must have been passed at an acceptable level.
Other Requirements
Applicants with the following qualifications from FET/TVET colleges and/or other technical colleges or institutions may apply: An N3 with four subjects passed with at least 40% each, plus two official languages: one of these to be English and to be passed at least on First or Second Language SG or; N4 with four subjects passed with at least 50% each, provided the person can prove communication competence in the language of instruction (English)
