When Can I Apply For North-West University (NWU) Applications 2026

The application period for North-West University’s 2026 academic year is now open. While the official application portal will be accessible starting April 1, it’s recommended to begin planning your program of choice early to ensure a smooth and timely application process.

Both undergraduate and postgraduate applications must be submitted by the specified deadline, as no late applications will be accepted. Some programs may have earlier closing dates, so it’s important to check the specific deadline for your chosen course

Submission of Application Materials

To improve your chances of admission, make sure all supporting documents are submitted on time. While timely submission doesn’t guarantee admission, it is essential for the application process. The deadline for submitting required documents is August 31, 2025, though this may vary depending on the qualification you are applying for.

Required Documents:

  • Fully completed application form
  • Recently certified (no older than one year) copies of:
    • Original identity document
    • (National) Senior Certificate
    • Highest academic results

Application Fee:

  • Free for South African applicants
  • R550 for international students (must be paid before submitting the online application)

What documents North-West University will require when accepting applications in 2026

The following supporting documentation must be submitted with every application by all applicants:

  • Grade 12 results, Grade 11 results (final results only)
  • copy of your matric certificate – if you have already passed matric.
  • Copy of an Applicant’s Identity document
  • Copy of Applicant’s academic record (if applicable).
  • Applicants currently upgrading their grade 12 results, will only be considered after the improved results are presented to the NWU.
  • Applicants who follow Cambridge, GED, or any other non-NSC curriculum, or who may qualify for exemption based on advanced age or post-school qualifications, must provide an exemption certificate as issued by USAF
