What are the eligibility criteria to apply for NSFAS 2025?

Must be a citizen or lawful permanent resident of South Africa
The annual gross household income should not be more than R350,000.
The annual gross household income of individuals with impairments should not surpass R600,000.
SASSA beneficiaries are immediately eligible financially.
Email and cell phone numbers are essential.

What are the required Documents for NSFAS Applications?

Student ID/Birth certificate.
Parent/guardian/spouse ID.
Smart card with both sides required.
Proof of income (where applicable).
Persons living with disability (Disability Annexure A form).
Vulnerable Child Declaration form by a social worker.
Non-SASSA Declaration for applicants with no family details or abridged birth certificate.

Where and how to APPLY for funding from NSFAS?

The application process is primarily online and can be completed using a PC, tablet, or cell phone, available at www.nsfas.org.za. Just complete these steps to apply:

Step 1: Click the “myNSFAS” option after visiting www.nsfas.org.za.
Step 2: Open an account on myNSFAS
Step 3: Select the “APPLY” option and fill out the sections on the screen.
Step 4: Upload any necessary additional documents.
Step 5: Select “Submit.”

Don’t worry if you don’t have a digital device or internet access; you can still apply by visiting the Thusong Center or the closest National Youth Development Agency (NYDA) and following the same instructions.

How to register for a myNSFAS 2025 account?

Go to www.nsfas.org.za and select the tab labeled “myNSFAS.”
Press the “Register” button. Check the acceptance box if you want NSFAS to confirm and authenticate the information you submitted.
As it appears on your ID document, enter your ID number here.
Enter your last name exactly as it appears on your ID document.
Enter your phone number and email address. Your email address is going to be your username.
Establish a password and make sure it works.
Send in a picture of your ID.
Press the “Register” button.
A One Time Pin (OTP) will be issued to the email address and phone number you entered after clicking “Register.”
For the OTP, check your email and cell phone.
In the designated tab, enter the OTP and press the submit button.
You will then receive another SMS and email confirming that your myNSFAS account has been created. You may now continue with your application.
