NSFAS 2024 Online Applications Are Officially Open!
Welcome to the NSFAS 2024 Online Application, where financial aid is awarded to South African citizens who are economically disadvantaged and either enrolled or ready to enroll in public universities or technical and vocational colleges. The link for the 2024 online application has been formally opened and enabled. The deadline for prospective students seeking financial aid is January 31, 2024, for the submission of all necessary supporting documentation.
NSFAS 2024 Application Dates
The following dates are applicable to all prospective and current NSFAS students:
- Opening Date: 21st November 2023 @ 16:00 pm
- Closing date: 31st January 2024 @ 12 midnight
- There are just 70 days left to submit applications for 2024!
Who Can Apply for the 2024 NSFAS Bursary?
You can apply for an NSFAS bursary if you are a citizen of South Africa, plan to attend school in 2024, or if you are a current student at a public university or TVET college and meet the requirements below.
- South African citizens or permanent residents
- SASSA grant recipients
- Applicants whose combined gross household income is not more than R350 000 per year
- Persons with disabilities whose combined gross household income is not more than R600 000 per year.
- Must have an email account and cell phone number.
Who should not submit an NSFAS application?
Students who are not yet finished with their current degree, have applied for and been granted funding in the past, and do not intend to change careers from TVET College to University or the other way around.
For the duration of their studies, they will automatically be funded as long as they pass their modules and meet the academic requirements.
What does the NSFAS bursary cover?
General: If your funding application receives approval, NSFAS will pay your expenses for:
- Accommodation/Rent
- Living Allowance
- Learning material allowance
- Personal care allowance
University of South Africa: If you are studying at the University of South Africa (UNISA) you will receive funding for:
- Tuition
- Books (subject to the number of modules registered)
- Personal care allowance
Disability Student: If you are an eligible student with a disability, you will receive funding for:
- Assistive Devices
- Meals
- Tuition
- Transport
- Tuition
- Human Support
- Accommodation
Allowances, excluding human support, for students living with disabilities attending TVET Colleges will as of 2023 be supported directly by the NSFAS.
NSFAS Application Requirements For 2024
The 2024 application process requires the following supporting documents:
- Students with disabilities must provide a completed and signed Disability Annexure A Form
- An applicant who is recognized as a vulnerable child by the Department of Social Development must provide completed and Vulnerable Child Declaration form completed by a social worker
- Retrenchment letter
- Proof of citizenship
- Death certificate/s
- Divorce Decree
- Proof of legal guardianship
- Marriage certificate
How to Apply For NSFAS 2024
To register your profile, make an account, and apply, simply follow these easy steps.
Step 1: Create a profile:
- Create a myNSFAS account via this link: https://my.nsfas.org.za/ or download the NSFAS App on Google Play or App Store. Your ID number will be your username.
Step 2: Apply Now:
- Click on the ‘Apply’ tab to update your personal information and upload your application supporting documents, as indicated.
Step 3: Complete the process for submission:
- Submit your application before 31 January 2024
How to Track NSFAS Status
Visit the official NSFAS website at www.nsfas.org.za and follow the steps below to check your 2024 NSFAS application status
- Log in to your NSFAS account.
- Navigate to the “MyNSFAS” tab.
- Select “Check Your Application Status.”
- Enter your login credentials (Username and Password).
- Access your NSFAS application status online.
