Sol Plaatje University (SPU) plans to open academic registration for new and returning students in 2025, making this portal a valuable resource for students to complete registration quickly and efficiently.
Once admitted, senior and first-year students must register online at www.spu.ac.za. To access the module registration page, click the online registration link.
If your application is accepted, you can register online and avoid visiting campus for any inquiries.
When does Sol Plaatje University (SPU) open and close registration for 2025?
Sol Plaatje University’s (SPU) registration and enrollment period for new and returning/senior students for the 2025 academic year will be from January 20 to February 14, 2025. Sol Plaatje University (SPU) encourages all newly admitted students who have received their acceptance letter to participate in this activity by going to the SPU registration web portal and filling out the form before the deadline. Sol Plaatje University (SPU) registers students on a first-come, first-served basis. Register between January 20 and February 14, 2025. Do not expect late registration.
Sol Plaatje University Registration Documents Required
Upload the following documents during the registration process for the 2025-2026 academic year:
- A certified scanned Acknowledgment of Debt (AOD) document.
- Proof of Registration Payment.
- A certified scanned letter from your funder
Sol Plaatje University Registration Fee Requirements 2025
All self-funded/unfunded students are required to make an upfront payment towards fees, before registration, of:
- R5 000 for tuition
- R5 000 for residence (if allocated);
Note: Please email proof of payment to the *Financial Aid Office and proceed with online registration.
How to register for qualifications and subjects at SPU?
Click on Submit Registration on your left and complete the following:
– Students who are registering for Education qualification (See Example 1), must complete two fields as seen below:
Click on the dropdown button to enter your Employment Status
- Employed by external employer;
- Employed by this employer; or
Unemployed
- Click on the dropdown button to enter your Teaching Profession, and click on the Save and Continue
- Button to display your subjects
- Tick your compulsory and elective subjects according to the qualification guidelines, then click the
- Save and Continue Button to proceed with them, or click the Restart Process Button to start the process Again
How to view your Academic Application Status?
- Click on Academic Application Status to view your status (e.g. Firm Offer, Waitlisted, Unsuccessful, etc.).
How to add additional subjects to your Registration at Sol Plaatje University?
To add a course during the registration at Sol Plaatje University,
- Click on Add Subject to a Registration, then click on your qualification code
- You will be able to view all modules already being registered for. To add modules that you still need to
- register, tick the subject box and click on Save and Continue. You may print your proof of registration again
How to Register as a First-time Student at SPU
Below is the Step-by-step Registration Process for first-year students (Freshly accepted students) at Sol Plaatje University (SPU)
- Enter the URL of Sol Plaatje University (SPU)@https://www.spu.ac.za
- Scroll down and look for online facilities. Click on the tab/link to open the IENABLER
- On this page, Enter your student number and unique PIN to log in. You can create a password if you have forgotten your old one.
- On your Left pan, Click on “Academic Registration“
- Read and accept the Rules and regulations by clicking on “I Accept” to proceed
- Click on the next step. On this page, Use the drop-box and enter the field that suits you. Click SAVE AND CONTINUE
- The previous step takes you to a page where all the modules are displayed. The ticked ones are the compulsory courses that cannot be altered. Select your courses by checking the empty boxes. Click SAVE AND CONTINUE
- A preview of the modules is opened. Click on Continue to proceed
- Your Registration cost page opens with the estimated cost of the selected courses. Click on ACCEPT REGISTRATION
- A preview of Proof of Registration is launched. Click on Continue to proceed to the next step
- Download or Print the proof of Registration and proceed to Register for Accommodation or Residence.
- For cyber security insurance, please sure you log out after downloading.

Venue for Registration: Computer Labs in Building C006 (situated behind Moroka Hall of Residence. Entrance at Bishop Road). If you cannot register, you can go to the university campus for you to be helped. Remember the following when visiting the campus:
- Students must first accept the offer by signing the acceptance letter sent by the university.
- Applicant must submit a firm offer letter to the security at the entrance. This has been necessitated by the outbreak of the coronavirus.
- Students must also present proof of vaccination or apply for an exemption.
- proceed to the ICT department’s Registration Center.
- Go with all the necessary documents
- After the Registration, proceed to the Library for your Student Card. Students must go there with the proof of registration printed out.
