University of Cape Town 2027 Application Opening Date
The University of Cape Town is now accepting applications for the 2027 academic year. Prospective students who wish to begin or continue their undergraduate or postgraduate studies are encouraged to apply either online or through the manual application process.

UCT 2027 Application Closing Dates
Applications to study at the University of Cape Town for the 2027 academic year will close by August 31, 2026, depending on the level of qualification. See the detailed closing dates below:

Document Requirements for UCT Applications
The following documents must accompany all applications:
Current Learners:
- Submit all examination results from Grade 11 and up to September of Grade 12.
Transferring Students:
- Submit all transcripts and academic records as soon as possible.
Submission Method:
- Documents must be submitted as certified electronic copies to admissions@uct.ac.za.
- Do not send documents to other email addresses, as this will delay the processing of your application
Application Fees at the University of Cape Town for 2027
Below is the breakdown of the University of Cape Town 2027 application fees:
- Undergraduate & Postgraduate Applicants (South Africa & SADC region): R100
- Undergraduate & Postgraduate Applicants (Outside SADC region): R300
- Graduate School of Business (GSB) Applications (South Africa & African citizens/residents): R1940
- GSB Applications (Outside Africa): USD 300
Note: Currently registered UCT students, UCT graduates, and Semester Study Abroad applicants are exempt from the application fee

Follow the steps below to apply to study at the University of Cape Town for the 2027 academic intake
- Visit www.uct.ac.za.
- Click on Applicants & Students” in the top menu.
- Read the information provided.
- Select “Prospective Students” from the list.
- Read the welcome message and proceed.
- Go to the “Applications” tab.
- Click “Apply” from the drop-down list.
- Choose your qualification (Undergraduate or Postgraduate).
- Review and read application instructions.
- Click on “Apply Online” to start.
- Complete the online application form.
- Choose your qualification and application year.

Admission Requirements for Undergraduate Study at UCT
You must meet the requirements below to be admitted to study at the University of Cape Town.
Admissions Points Score (APS)
- UCT calculates the Admissions Points Score (APS) based on the best six subjects from your matric exams, excluding Life Orientation. This includes English and any required subjects for your chosen program
Undergraduate Diploma Study:
- National Senior Certificate (NSC) certified by Umalusi with a minimum achievement rating of 3 (40-49%) in 4 recognized NSC 20-credit subjects.
 Bachelor’s Degree Study:
South African Applicants:
- Must have completed a minimum of 4- 20-credit NSC subjects with a grade of 4 (50-59%) or better.
- Matriculation Endorsement is required for those with a South African Senior Certificate.
Non-South African Applicants:
- Must meet the matriculation exemption requirements. Visit the Matriculation Board’s website for more information.
- All applicants must have attained a certain level of proficiency in English
