When to Apply for UNIVEN Academic Courses for 2027

The application cycle for the 2027 academic intake is already underway across most universities in South Africa. However, the University of Venda (UNIVEN) is among the institutions that typically open their applications slightly later than others.

In this article, we will outline when the 2027 application window is expected to open and guide you on the best time to apply for your preferred programme.

UNIVEN 2027 Application Opening Date

The University of Venda (UNIVEN) will open its 2027 application process to the general public on Friday, 1 May 2026. This allows prospective students to begin submitting their applications for the upcoming academic year.

It is important to note that this opening date differs slightly from the university’s usual application schedule, so applicants are advised to take note and apply as early as possible to avoid missing out.

Application Submission Deadline for 2027

All academic and residence applications for the 2027 academic year will close at 11:59 PM on 30 September 2026. As a result, you are required to complete your application form and upload all supporting documents before this deadline to be considered for the 2027 academic intake.

Deadline for Submitting Outstanding Documents

Submitting your supporting documents on time does not guarantee admission, but it can significantly improve your chances of acceptance. All required documents must be submitted to the University of Venda (UNIVEN) no later than 30 September 2026.

Although you may initially submit your application without all supporting documents, any outstanding documents must be provided before this deadline.

To finalise your application, ensure you submit a fully completed form together with certified copies (not older than one year) of your identity document, National Senior Certificate, and/or your most recent academic results. A non-refundable application fee of R100 is required for both local and international applicants, and proof of payment must be included with any hard copy submissions.

All applicants should provide the following supporting documents for the application:

  • A South African Identity number or passport number (international students)
  • Cell phone number
  • A working email address
  • Credit/debit card with CV number to pay the R100 application fee online.
  • Grade 11 report or statement of grade 12 results
  • A copy of the Matric Certificate
  • Copy of study /residence permit / medical insurance /SAQA Evaluation Certificate

How to Apply to the University of Venda (UNIVEN)

Follow the steps below to successfully complete your application:

  1. Visit the UNIVEN online application portal at www.univen.ac.za
  2. Click on “Apply for Admission” in the top menu of the homepage
  3. Select “Begin Online Application”
  4. The academic application process page will open—read all instructions carefully
  5. Proceed to log in to the myAccess portal using your student number to continue your application
  6. Pay the required application fee of R100 (non-refundable)
  7. Complete all sections of the application form and submit it online
  8. You may save your application and return later to complete it if needed
  9. Create a secure 5-digit PIN, which will be required during the application process
