When To Apply UNISA Online 2025

The online application deadline and closing dates for the 2025 academic year at the University of South Africa (UNISA) are in November depending on the course. Please submit your application forms and all necessary documentation by the closing date. The University of South Africa (Unisa) has not yet opened its 2025 application forms and portal, but it is expected to open applications in August and close them around November.

 

The University of South Africa (UNISA) has limited enrollment for the academic year 2025, so it’s in your best interest to know when to apply for admission for the January intake 2025.

When to Submit UNISA Application DOCUMENTS 2025

The University of South Africa (UNISA) requires all supporting documents to be submitted by the deadline, for the 2025 academic intake. The application is open from August 19, 2024, and closes on 11 October 2024. Late applications will not be accepted.

The application must include the following:

  • A fully completed form,
  • Recently certified copies of your original identity document,
  • National Senior Certificate, and/or highest academic results.

The cost of the online application form is R135. To be considered complete and valid for admissions in 2025, applicants must complete the form and submit all necessary documents, including proof of payment of the application fee.

Which Documents Are Needed to Apply at UNISA 2025

If you are applying for admission to an undergraduate, honours degree or postgraduate diploma, master’s or doctoral qualification, please ensure that you submit the following documents as part of your application:

Domestic Applicants

  • Copy of your school qualifications (eg Senior Certificate, National Senior Certificate)
  • Copy of your official tertiary academic record(s) (if applicable) (internet copies will not be accepted)
  • Copy of your ID document (RSA students) or ID/passport (international students)
  • Copy of your marriage certificate (if applicable) or divorce decree (if applicable)
  • Sworn translations of documents if they are not in English or Afrikaans

International Applicants Only

Undergraduate

  • Copy of your school qualifications.
  • Copy of your tertiary academic qualifications (if applicable)
  • Copy of your passport
  • Copy of your marriage certificate (if applicable) or divorce decree (if applicable)
  • Original sworn translations of documents if they are not in English or Afrikaans
  • M30 form – Application for a Certificate of Conditional Exemption (ONLY for admission to bachelor degree studies) (PDF 157KB) and supporting documents if you are applying for a certificate of exemption

Honours and Postgraduate Diploma Applications

  • Copies of all official academic records, including all papers/modules passed, percentages obtained, and the ledger. If your official records are not in English, you must also submit an original translation by a sworn translator.
  • Copy of your valid passport.
  • Marriage/divorce documents (if applicable and if the names on your academic record do not correspond with the names on your passport).
  • A SAQA certificate of evaluation

Master’s & Doctoral Applications

  • Copies of all official academic records, including all papers/modules passed, percentages obtained, and the ledger.
  • A copy of your ID or valid passport.
  • A research outline, CV, and any additional documents as indicated in the admission requirements for the specific qualification under the departmental focus area requirements (applicants applying for the MBA, MBL, DBL, coursework LLMs and the Coursework MCom in Industrial Psychology do not need to submit a research outline).
  • RPL approval letter if you applied for admission via RPL.
  • A SAQA certificate of evaluation

N.B.: All required documents must be certified at your local police station within the last three months.

When UNISA Closes Applications

The University of South Africa’s online application form is set to close, and any submitted outside of these dates will not be considered for 2025 admissions.

UNISA Undergraduate and Postgraduate Applications

  • Undergraduate qualifications close on 11 October 2024.
  • Honours degrees and postgraduate diplomas close on 14 October 2024.
  • Master’s applications close on 14 November 2024.
  • Doctoral qualifications close on 14 November 2024.

The University of South Africa is requiring all domestic and international applications, first-time and returning students, and those starting a career course in January 2025 to meet the specified deadlines.
