Hurray! The mother of all South African universities has officially opened for 2024 admissions, and as usual, thousands of applicants from around the world are anticipated to apply for admission. We are talking about the University of South Africa (UNISA) here. For the academic year 2024–2025, Unisa has also announced the closing date for all undergraduate, postgraduate diploma, master’s, and doctoral qualifications

Through an active online application system, the University of South Africa (Unisa) is now accepting thousands of applications for the academic year 2024. You must be aware of the date on which Unisa will formally close the application portal for admissions in 2024 due to the capacity, which suggests that only a small number of applicants will be allowed into the various programmes.

Unisa opened its application window for Higher Certificates, Advanced Certificates, Diplomas, Advanced Diplomas, and undergraduate Degree programs on 01 September 2023. Prospective applications interested in applying at Unisa  for Honours Degrees and Unisa Post Diplomas can apply from 01 September 2023

When Will Unisa close 2024 Undergraduate Applications

Interestingly, Unisa will close its undergraduate online applications on 13 October 2024. Interested students applying to study at UNISA must ensure that all documents including a proof of payment of the application fee must be received by Unisa on or before 13 October 2024 if they are seeking undergraduate qualifications. Please remember once Unisa closes its applications on 13 October, no late application form will be processed.

Who Qualifies to Apply For Unisa 2024 Admissions?

All applicants who desire to begin new qualifications at the University may submit applications, which Unisa will accept and process. Any person who wants to improve their education may be a first-time or fresh applicant, a current student altering their qualifications, a transfer student, a former student, or another.

Every applicant is required to submit one application for a maximum of two (2) study courses. If you are eligible for the two courses, you will receive an offer with the opportunity to choose only one of the two options. You have at least 10 days after receiving an offer to accept or reject it for the upcoming academic year.

Documents Required For Unisa 2024 Applications

Provide each a certified copy of the following:

  • A copy of your previous school results
  • A copy of any tertiary education academic records
  • A copy of ID/Passport/Birth certificate
  • Sworn translations of any documents that are not in English or Afrikaans\
  • An email address and a phone number
  • Residential and postal address

The process to Apply at Unisa – Application procedure at Unisa

Apply for Unisa admissions by:

  • Going to the Unisa application portal at www.unisa.ac.za
  • Select “admissions and click on it
  • Click on “Apply for admission”
  • Select “undergraduate admissions”
  • Click on “Start the process”
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the form
  • Complete all required field
  • Submit a completed form
  • Upload all required documents
  • Proceed to pay the application fee

Who Pays Unisa Application fee

New or first-time applicants must pay an R135 non-refundable application fee. You won’t be given a student number until Unisa has verified your payment during the application period. The application cost may be paid online or by wire transfer to a designated bank account.
