Important Deadlines for International Undergraduate Applications
The application deadline for all international undergraduate programs at the University of Johannesburg (UJ) for the January 2026 academic year is October 31, 2025. Postgraduate application deadlines vary by course. Late applications are not accepted, so ensure all required documents, including academic transcripts, letters of recommendation, and proof of English language proficiency, are submitted by the deadline.
Application Fee Requirements
The international application fee is R200 and must be submitted with a completed application form and supporting documents. However, if you apply online, there is no application fee.

Note:
- The University prefers the applicant to take the IELTS at an overall score of 6 and TOEFL at an average score of 80–104 for Undergraduate programs) Alternatively, you may elect to write the University of Johannesburg English Language Programme Test (UJELP).
UJ Admission Requirements
To study for a South African degree applicants are required to have achieved a South African National Senior Certificate with a degree endorsement. All International applicants with high school qualifications achieved outside of the Republic of South Africa require a certificate of exemption from the Matriculation Board of South Africa for admission into undergraduate studies.
