UJ 2026 Application: Key Dates, Requirements, and How to Apply
The 2026 application period is now open. The University of Johannesburg (UJ) invites the public to apply for undergraduate and graduate programs for the 2026 academic year. Applications can be submitted online or manually.

UJ 2026 Application Date Breakdown
Be sure to submit your application according to the dates below to be considered for the 2026 intake at the University of Johannesburg (UJ)
- Application Opening Date: Tuesday, April 1, 2025
- Application Closing Date: October 31, 2025 (Late applications may be accepted depending on space availability in January 2026)
- Submission of supporting documents: Midnight of October 31, 2025

Document Requirements for UJ 2026 Applications
You will require the documents listed below based on your citizenship.
For Domestic Students:
- Copies of your identification documents that have been certified (ID)
- A certified copy of your Grade 12 examination results if you have completed
- Certified copy of your Grade 11 (if you’re in Grade 12 right now)
- A working email address is required
International Applicants only
- A certified copy of your native country’s identification document
- A certified copy of your passport number from your home country
- Study Visa in South Africa
- Medical Report
- English Proficiency For Undergraduate programs, proof of IELTS with an overall score of 6 and TOEFL with an average score of 80–104 is required. This applies to those whose high school courses were taught in a language other than English.
N.B.: Ensure all the documents above are certified and scanned before you submit them.
UJ Application Fee
Applicants submitting a paper application must pay a non-refundable R200 fee at FNB Client Services into the UJ account (Account number: 626 158 73280, Branch code: 210-554). Only checks are accepted, and applicants should use their student number as a reference. Online applications are free.

How to Apply Online for UJ 2026
To submit an online application: Use your computer, laptop, tablet, or mobile device to access the internet, then follow the instructions below.
- Visit www.uj.ac.za.
- Click the “Apply Now” button.
- Your browser will navigate to the application page.
- Choose “New Applicant.”
- Choose your citizenship status.
- Put in your passport or ID number.
- By checking the “I Accept” box, you agree to the terms.
- Press “Next” to continue.
- Enter your personal information.
- Select “Save and Continue.”
- Select your qualification.
- Fill out all the required fields.
- Upload documents in the appropriate formats.
How to Check Your UJ Application Status
To track the status of your application:
- Go to the portal: https://student.uj.ac.za/status.aspx
- Enter your details for verification:
- Student number (if available)
- Surname/Last name
- First name(s)/Forename(s)
- Email address
- Enter the password you used during your application submission.
- Click “Next” to view your application status.

Registration for 2026 at UJ
Online registration for the 2026 academic year will open to all new students accepted for the intake. The registration period typically runs from January to February of the year of study. When you receive an offer to study at UJ, make sure you have your registration fee and supporting documentation ready.
