DUT Application Dates For 2025-2026
For the academic year 2025, the application dates for Durban University of Technology (DUT) vary depending on the specific programs and faculties. However, generally, the application period for undergraduate programs at DUT opens on April 01 and closes on November 30, 2024. Durban University of Technology (DUT) does accept late applications but with a late application fee of R470 that must be paid through the Central Application Office.
DUT Application Requirements For 2025-2026
You must fulfill certain requirements to apply to the undergraduate programs at Durban University of Technology (DUT). The prerequisites include paying the application money, submitting the supporting application documents, and having the necessary academic credentials. DUT Application Fee For 2025
Before the closing dates, both international and South African applicants must submit their application forms with non-refundable application fees of R300 and R250, respectively. - Certified Copy of ID and Birth certificate
- Final Grade 11 Report (if you are in Grade 12) OR
- Highest qualification achieved
- Copy of study/residence permit (if you are a non-South-African applicant)
- Proof of Payment of Application Fee
- June Grade 12 Report (as soon as you receive it if you are currently in Grade 12)
September/Trials Grade 12 Report (as soon as you receive it if you are currently in Grade 12) - Any other document requested by the institution, eg. Academic Record, etc.

DUT Admission Requirements For Undergraduate Courses
The minimum entrance and admission requirements for admission to the DUT undergraduate qualifications are explained below:
Higher Certificate programs require a National Senior Certificate (NSC) as certified by the Council for General and Further Education and Training (Umalusi), with a minimum achievement rating of 3 for English.
Diploma programs require a National Senior Certificate (NSC) as certified by the Council for General and Further Education and Training (Umalusi), with a minimum achievement rating of 3 for English and a minimum achievement rating of 3 in four recognized NSC 20-credit subjects.
Bachelor’s Degree programs require a National Senior Certificate (NSC) as certified by the Council for General and Further Education and Training (Umalusi), with a minimum achievement rating of 3 for English and a minimum achievement rating of 4 in four NSC 20-credit subjects chosen from the NSC designated subject list.

The application process for undergraduate qualifications

All undergraduate applications must be submitted through the Central Application Office, CAO application portal which is currently open and active. Apply online at the Central Applications Office (CAO). A prospective student who wishes to study at DUT must apply via the CAO by visiting their website at www.cao.ac.za to complete the online application form. You can equally download the hard copy and complete it by hand. Ensure you attach all the supporting documents and the application fee before you submit by mail, and in person.
How to Apply Online For DUT Undergraduate Courses for 2025
If you meet the minimum requirements, follow the steps provided below to apply for any undergraduate program of your choice.
- Enter cao.ac.za into your search engine and select “Apply.”
- Click “Continue with Application.“
- Key in your ID number and click on ‘Submit’
- Select and Click ‘Continue with Application‘ at the bottom of the page after you have scrolled there.
- Start by entering ALL of the required information.
- Select and click “Next.” “
- Complete the section
- Click Continue
- You’ll see your CAO number, password, and EasyPay number in a pop-up window.
- Once seen, write them down and proceed
- After carefully reading the instructions and submitting ALL necessary information, click “Next.”
- Click “Next” after filling out the “Next of Kin” information.
- Once the school’s name is displayed in a box, you must enter the years that you first enrolled there and when you graduated from it before clicking “Search.”
- Choose “Next.”
- NOW THAT YOUR APPLICATION HAS BEEN SENT, CLICK THE BUTTON WHEN “Process My Application” IS VISIBLE.
- When your submission is successful, a notification will appear on your screen.
- Pay the application Fee
- Upload and submit all required documents
- Finally, click on Submit to electronically submit your application forms
