SA Universities Open For Late Applications 2025/2026

Even though many universities have closed their applications to new applicants for 2025, some still have spots available. Following the application, dates are crucial for receiving an acceptance letter from a university. You may not have intended it this way, but you were distracted by an external element, preventing you from applying as soon as possible. Keep your expectations up, because some of the greatest universities are still admitting new applicants.

Fortunately, some applicants who were granted a course declined, providing an opening for fresh applications. As a result, most universities and colleges now allow late applications for the school year 2025/2026. The official closing date for the 2025/2026 calendar is October 31, 2024. However, some courses have no set application deadlines and will close as soon as they reach capacity.

Late Application requirements

Several of these universities impose late application fees. In such circumstances, you must pay and include proof of payment with the completed application form. This does not exclude the inclusion of additional supporting documents such as an ID, an academic transcript, the most recent academic results, a study visa, a medical report, and any other documents necessary by your desired university or college.

Nelson Mandela University (NMU)

NMU Application for 2025 – Officially the application was closed on 30th September 2024
Late Application is yet to be released for the 2025 academic year

University of Fort Hare (UFH)

Applications must be submitted by the deadline of 30 November 2024
Late applications will not be considered

University of Pretoria (UP)

The official closing date was 30 September 2024
However, there are still available courses you can choose from

North-West University (NWU)

All selection programmes closed on 31^st July 2024
Non-selection programmes are still available for late applications

University of South Africa (UNISA)

The deadline for some undergraduate programs has been extended by Unisa until December 7th, 2024.
For the 2024/2025 academic year, some Honors and Postgraduate Diplomas have been extended until December 7, 2023.
UGSBL’s postgraduate diploma deadline remains November 30, 2024.
The application deadlines for some Master’s and Doctoral programs have been extended until January 31, 2024.
From November 14, 2023, to February 28, 2024, applications and registration for the Short Learning Programme are open.

Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT)

The opening date is October 24, 2024. The portal will be open until November 4th, 2024, for all late applicants.
