The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) is a government-funded organization that provides financial assistance to every South African student enrolled in or about to enrol in a Tvet college. The goal of NSFAS is to make every young person’s ambition a reality by enrolling them in various courses approved by the entity.

When Should You Submit an Application for Tvet NSFAS Funding in 2024?

The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) will finance all qualified and eligible South African applicants. You must apply for financing as an applicant within the application period. NSFAS will sponsor the first semester of 2024, which will take place between September 28, 2023, and January 31, 2024.

The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) will exclusively accept online applications via the portal, which will go live on September 28, 2023. Students at Tvet College are encouraged to apply as soon as the NSFAS portal for the academic year 2024/2025 opens.

Tvet Nsfas Eligibility Criteria 2024-2025

To be eligible for the 2024 Tvet NSFAS, you must:

  • Be a South African
  • Have a household gross income of no more than R350 000 per year
  • Be a disability student
  • Have an Email address and a phone number
  • Be enrolled or about to be enrolled at an approved Tvet College
  • You are studying one of the approved NSFAS courses
  • You are studying a first-degree or diploma course
  • South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) beneficiary
  • Students from families with a combined household income of up to R122,000 returning to a TVET College after a gap year or two to complete their first undergraduate qualification

What Is Covered By The TVET College NSFAS Bursary?

TVET College’s NSFAS financing covers the actual cost of tuition as well as the following

  • Learning materials, which include the registration fee for the particular program the student has chosen;
  • Accommodation & Transportation
  • Living expenses, including meals

Number of qualifications Funded by NSFAS 2024

The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) will only cover first-year degrees. You cannot obtain funds for a second degree and two undergraduate degrees. NSFAS will only fund one academic qualification.

What You Need to Apply for Tvet NSFAS

As a student or applicant to a Tvet college, you must have and upload the following documents during the online application process by the closing date. Failure to upload any of these papers renders your application form invalid and unacceptable.

  • Your own cellphone number and email address
  • Copy of your ID or birth certificate
  • ID copies of parents, guardians, or spouse
  • Your proof of income or 1 year’s IRP5 (if applicable)
  • Your parents, guardian, or spouse’s proof of income
  • If you are a SASSA grant recipient, no proof of income will be required
  • Applicants with a disability must submit a completed and signed Disability Annexure A Form
  • An applicant who is recognized as a Vulnerable Child by the Department of Social Development must provide a completed and signed Vulnerable Child Declaration and Consent Form
