The University of South Africa (UNISA) will release and accept the Online Application Form for Admission to the 2024-2025 academic year from 01 September to 14 November 2024. To apply for admission to UNISA for the academic year 2024, visit the UNISA application webpage at www.unisa.ac.za. After receiving a student number from Unisa, you must upload supporting documents and pay the R125.00 application fee. When applying for the first time to the University of South Africa, you must pay an application fee.

We regret to inform you that the second-semester online application at the University of South Africa (UNISA) will not be available until later in 2024. The first semester of the 2024 academic year is currently open, and if you want to start a new qualification for undergraduate or postgraduate qualifications at the university, then apply for admission to the 2024 academic year at UNISA by completing the online application form. After November 14, 2024, the application to study at UNISA will be closed.

UNISA Opening and Closing Date For 2024 Admissions

Semester 1 applications for all undergraduate qualifications, honours degrees, and postgraduate certificates will be accepted from September 1 to October 14, 2024, while applications for Master’s and doctorate qualifications will be accepted from September 11 to November 14, 2024. Applicants who intend to enroll in UNISA courses must apply online using the Unisa application portal.

Who can Apply for UNISA 2024 Admissions?

Applications are acceptable if you are applying for the first time to UNISA or if you are already a student but wish to alter your academic program. Applicants who previously applied for admission but were not awarded a place, or who were offered a spot but did not register, can reapply using the application login information that was originally assigned to them.

How much is the Unisa application fee for 2024?

An R125.00 application fee is required when applying for the first time to the University of South Africa. This is a required payment for all new candidates applying to study undergraduate, honours, postgraduate diploma, master’s, and doctoral qualifications. The only way to avoid paying the application cost is to have a student number. In this circumstance, all prior applicants (those with current UNISA student numbers) are exempt from paying the application or processing fees.

How to Improve Your Chances of Admission to Unisa

Apply as early as possible

Apply to UNISA as early as 01 September 2023. All UNISA Applications will be closed by 30 November 2024

After the application process for 2024 semester 1 closes, no late fees will be accepted. No application will be processed until the application fee (for first-time applicants) is paid and supporting documents are uploaded.

Choose lower-level Qualifications

Once an application has been submitted, no qualifications may be added or changed. During the application procedure, you may apply for a maximum of two qualifications. As a backup plan, you can try applying for a lower-level qualification.

Meet the Entry Requirements

UNISA 2024 Application Requirements

Prospective applicants applying to study at UNISA must meet the following requirements

  • Senior Certificate, National Senior Certificate qualifications
  • An email Address and proof of residency
  • Proof of application fee
  • Original Copy of your official tertiary academic record(s)
  • Copy of your ID document (RSA students)
  • ID/passport (international students)
  • Copy of your marriage certificate (if applicable) or divorce decree (if applicable)
  • Sworn translations of documents if they are not in English or Afrikaans

What Do You Need to Apply for UNISA Admissions?

You need to check that you qualify for admission and that you have the necessary documents ready to upload during the application process. You need to ensure that

  • You meet the statutory and college admission requirements for my qualification(s) of choice.
  • You meet the minimum academic points score (APS) for your qualification(s) of choice.
  • You have a valid e-mail address and cellphone number and accept that Unisa will communicate with you during the application process using this e-mail address and cellphone number.

To apply to the University of South Africa UNISA for admission to the 2024 academic year, please follow the guidelines outlined below.

  • Go to the UNISA Application form online at https://www.unisa.ac.za
  • Select and Click on the ONLINE ADMISSIONS tab
  • Choose your Qualification UNDERGRADUATE, POSTGRADUATE”
  • Select the “Apply for Admission” link.
  • Before proceeding to the next level, carefully read the directions on the page that opens.
  • Select first-time Applicants to Unisa/Returning Applicants
  • Enter your passport or identification number.
  • Fill up the blanks with accurate information.
  • Upload the documents that apply to you.
  • A student number would be produced automatically following a successful application.

UNISA Online Application Status Check 2024-2025

The University of South Africa UNISA Application verification takes some time. You may not get a reply from Unisa for six to eight weeks following the application closure. You may also CHECK and follow your UNISA applications for 2024 admission online using your login information.
