Good news to all university and Tvet College students yet to secure funding for their education! The application window for NSFAS funding for the 2025 academic year has been opened officially. Quickly visit www.nsfs.org.za to apply for funding for the academic year 2025.
NSFAS is a South African government-funded scholarship for all financially handicapped students in South Africa. It covers tuition fees, living expenses, textbooks, and even personal allowances for all beneficiaries. NSFAS does not fund foreigners or second-degree qualifications under any circumstances.
If you need funding, visit the NSFAS online application page for 2024–2025 and complete one application form BEFORE the closing date. NSFAS is an organization that provides funds for South Africans whose family income does not exceed R350,000 per year to pursue higher education at a university or a technical college. Anyone who has completed Grade 12 in South Africa and has an email address and phone number can apply for NSFAS online. To put it another way, NSFAS is only available to South African citizens who are financially handicapped.
All applicants are required to meet all criteria and requirements of NSFAS, which include applying within the timeframe, meeting the eligibility criteria, and uploading all application supporting documents.

NSFAS Bursary application(s) 2025 is now open to all prospective South African citizens earning R350,000 or less. NSFAS bursary applications are open to only South African citizens accepted into approved universities or TVET colleges. NSFAS Financial Aid applications are open from September 21, 2024, to January 31, 2025.

One thing you should know is that if you forget to send in or upload the necessary supporting documents, your funding application will not be able to move on to the next level of approval. Please make sure you fill out every section of the application form and attach all supporting documents in the appropriate format if you want your application to be processed. To ensure that your application is processed by NSFAS management, you must provide your identification number on each page of all of the supporting documents. Without an ID number, NSFAS won’t be able to process your online application.
Your certified copies of all of your documents cannot be more than three months old. The South African Police Service or the South African Post Office can certify your documents. All NSFAS application documentation must be certified by these organizations.

We advise you to look for alternative funding if you are one of the following students applying for the NSFAS Bursary for 2024, as your application will be rejected. To be eligible for funding, you must first meet the requirements. The following students are not qualified to submit funding applications.

Applicants seeking NSFAS funding for 2024 who do not have a personal cell phone should obtain one immediately or use the cell phone of a close friend or relative. Please keep in mind that you cannot apply for Nsfas funding without having a mobile phone. To register an NSFAS account, you will also need a cell phone number and an email address. Smart devices with internet access are used to apply for Nsfas online at www.nsfas.org.za. If you don’t have access to a smart device, simply go to your nearest National Youth Development Agency (NYDA) or Thusong Centre and ask for assistance.
Once you have a working cell phone, home address, email address, and phone number, you are ready to apply for Nsfas.
